Pound Charles III 2023
The production of pounds in gold started in 1817, when during the Kingdom of George III the English Parliament decided to give up on silver as the basis of the monetary system in favor of the gold standard. Its reverse portrays the image of Saint George riding his horse and fighting against the dragon, and it was made by the Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci.
The gold sterling pound Charles III 2023 is a coin with a great importance both historical and minusmatic, which was minted by the Royal Mint, the official Mint of the United Kingdom. The coin commemorates the accession to the throne of King Charles III and it has a distinctive design, as a symbol of the essence and majesty of the new King. On the front of the coin it is possible to see the portrait of Charles III made by the artist Martin Jennings. In this wonderful representation, the King wears the Tudor’s crown for the first time, offering the portrait a royal and striking appearance. The Tudor’s crown bears a symbol of great historical significance, although it was destroyed in 1640. However, it has been used in many commemorative representations throughout the XX century and its presence on the sterling pound Charles III 2023 gives a touch of prestige and tradition.
