Pound Charles III 2024
The production of pounds in gold started in 1817, when during the Kingdom of George III the English Parliament decided to give up on silver as the basis of the monetary system in favor of the gold standard. Its reverse portrays the image of Saint George riding his horse and fighting against the dragon, and it was made by the Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci.
The gold sterling pound Charles III 2024 is a perfect fusion between past and present, standing out from the previous coin of 2023, that represents King Charles III wearing the Tudor’s crown. The last issue currency, known as the Sovereign 2024, honors the minusmatic tradition with an authentic and final portrait of King Charles III, made by Martin Jennings. The portrait, which appeared for the first time in 2022, represents the King in a classic pose pointing to the left without the crown of Saint Edward’s, as a tribute to the historic tradition and the artistic continuity of the gold sterling pound minting in the United Kingdom.
