Gold nuggets are actual pieces made of gold. They can be found in rivers or in old deposits where once veins of gold were active. The purity of nuggets does not reach the value of 24 kt, but it fluctuates between 20-22 kt.

One of the most important findings took place in 1869 in Victoria, Australia; it was a nugget with a gross weight of about 78 gr and a net weight of 70 gr. The biggest gold nugget was found in Australia in 1980 with a weight of 27 kilos and was named “Hand of faith”. Today it is possible to admire it at the “Golden nugget” casino in Las Vegas which paid one million dollars to have it.

In 2011 two nuggets of modest weight were discovered; the first was found in Switzerland in September with a weight of 128.50 gr, egg-sized. The second one was found in Russia, it weighs more than 7 kilos and it was evaluated at 300.000 euros.
