Ethical gold

Ethical gold is a particular type of gold extracted with non-invasive techniques and methods, namely without chemicals or explosive agents, as well as in harmony and cooperation with local communities involved.

The definition of ethical gold is now part of the slang of mining, of precious metals and journalism since the early 2000s with the evolution of sustainable practices.

First of all, ethical gold does not consider the use of cyanide and mercury, elements traditionally used for this metal. In the extractive phase all the chemical components incompatible with the environment are excluded, and for this reason ethical gold is mainly processed on alluvial layers, the so-called “alluvial gold”: it is extracted close to streams and it appears in the form of dust or gold nuggets, with a gold content of 90%.

The production of ethical gold cares a lot about local communities who live and operate close to the gold deposits; for this reason mining societies are asked to contribute in infrastructure works, education and training and medical assistance of locals; moreover policies of human resources must be respectful of the ethical practices.

The launch of ethical gold is also “Made in Italy”; the first Italian mining company that has dominated by extracting gold nuggets in Honduras was the Goldlake of Gubbio (Perugia). The society is supervised by the Holding Gold which consists of different companies, like the building group Financo with a participation of 25%.

Goldlake owns a share of 70% in two gold mines in Honduras with an exploration right for 500 hectares.

Italian miners extract the precious metal and then they close contracts with the main jewelers of the world, in particular with British ones and collaborate with them in order to launch trends that are slightly more expensive: this happens because ethical gold is obtained through eco sustainable processes that do not implement toxic additives in the respect of the environment and natives.
