WEEE: more recycling is possible!

WEEE stands for Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment which is damaged, unused or obsolete.

The difficult aspect of this waste is the presence of highly toxic substances for the environment and the humans, besides the fact that they are not biodegradable.

The main elements found in WEEE are: lead, used in glass panels of monitors, mercury, for the realization of thermostats, switches, telephones, medical tools and electroluminescence lamps.

Cadmium is used in rechargeable batteries; chromium is used as finishing in the processes of electrolytic galvanizing and in iron components to avoid the wear of time.

WEEE disposal takes place in authorized centers adapted to the WEEE legislation, disposing of the correct removal of dangerous parts followed by the separation of materials that are prepared for the recovery of metals.

If we wanted to calculate the results, it is estimated that from 30 obsolete computers it is possible to obtain a gold ring.
